Bryan Lord is the founder and President of New Venture Advisors LLC ("NVA"), a corporate strategy and business development firm focused on emerging ventures and intellectual property in the high technology market.

In addition to his work at NVA, Bryan has extensive experience working with technology commercialization and licensing.  At DEKA Research & Development Corp., he focused on new business concepts, at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, he was Director of Technology Commercialization and a member of the Battelle Commercialization Counsel, and at the MIT spin-out AmberWave Systems Corp., he was Vice President of Finance & Licensing and General Counsel.

Over his career, Bryan has managed and successfully raised venture capital funding, sourced and negotiated commercial licenses with Fortune 500 companies and R&D licenses with universities and federal research laboratories, acquired and sold private companies, and managed intellectual property prosecution, acquisition, and litigation.

Bryan also co-founded the Innovation Alliance, a coalition of high technology companies focused on advancing pro-innovation and pro-entrepreneurship public policy and one of the strongest pro-patent voices on Capitol Hill.  He has testified to the Small Business Committee and the Judiciary Committee of U.S. House of Representatives and the Federal Trade Commission’s Hearings on the Evolving Intellectual Property Marketplace and co-authored two amicus curiae briefs with the U.S. Supreme Court and one with the U.S. Federal Circuit Court.  He is a published author and has appeared on NPR and Bloomberg TV.

Prior to joining AmberWave, Bryan was a corporate finance & licensing attorney at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP in Boston where he represented a $5 billion family of global venture capital funds, a publicly traded software and networking company, and a variety of venture backed start-up companies.

Bryan earned his B.A. from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School in South Bend, Indiana, and M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
